Exploring with watercolours!

We have been exploring with some different effects with watercolour paint. We have loved the process and been amazed by the result!

With all three of these technique’s we start in the same way with watercolour paper on a tray with masking tape around the edge to secure it (this also make a lovely frame to their creations).

Then they paint the whole paper with water.

Next paint with watercolours over the whole piece of paper.

Exploration number 1 -lemon juice!

Add little drops of lemon juice over the watercolour paints!

Exploration number 2- cling film!

Place a piece of cling film over the painted paper (wrinkles add to the effect!), press down and leave over night. Remove cling film to see what the children have created!

Exploration number 3- salt !

Sprinkle salt over the paint. When it is dry water brush salt away.
