My New home by Martha Altes is a super sweet story for helping young children through a house move or a change in situation. The main character is a little Racoon who has moved to a new house and is now feeling far from home. The racoon feels sad, scared and lonely. However new adventures begins, soon things start to feel exciting and finally the racoon feels at home.
This is a well written picture book and through the words and illustrations the children will be able to identify with the character of the young racoon. This book could be read at any time, it is lovely story to discuss feelings, being kind and acceptance. I think this is a great story to read when supporting someone when they are moving home but also could be read to children welcoming a new child to help them understand some of the emotions the new child maybe feeling.
This is a perfect heart-warming picture book! xx
