The great ape escape!

Recently I was given “The great ape escape” by Fiona Manlove and Pascal Biet which I shared with Tom and the children I look after. This book tells the story of a group of cheeky monkeys in Monkey world. Over time, they have collected (stolen!) lots of car parts from the visitors who drive through the park to see them each day. They wonder what to do with the different parts, they decide upon putting the bits together to make a vehicle that actually works. After a lot of hard work, they manage to get the motor going and they escape from Monkey world to explore the world!

All the children I have read this book to have really enjoyed it and asked me to read it again. They particularly like the idea of the monkey’s being so clever to build a car and escape. They loved the humour that runs through the whole book, often laughing out loud! I think the illustrations are perfect and the details really add to the humour.

At the end of the book, there are a collection of photos of the monkeys in different parts of the world, the children enjoyed guessing where they were in the world and talking about the different places. Also there is a maze which the children loved too!

This book would be perfect to read before or after a visit to a safari park!

Happy reading xx

Thank you Andrea Reece at Ragged Bear for sending me this book. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest- all thoughts are my own.
