Cooking and reading
………….. are two things I love but just don’t get around to doing enough of. Some of this is due to being busy but some is due to not prioritising it and often just wasting time on the net! So I have decided to include a little of these in my blog, particularly some recipes to motivate me to get cooking and hopefully you might enjoy some different recipes too. Hope that is ok with you all!

So here goes my first recipe share! I made these with the kids which they loved!

Homemade iced party rings (based on a recipe in “Tea and Cake with Lisa Faulkner”, I say based on because I tend to just chuck all ingredients in one bowl, mix and hope for the best!)

 Ingredients

 200g Plain flour

100g golden caster sugar

100g salted butter (but I used unsalted and was fine)

 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

 1 egg

For the icing: icing sugar, water and food colouring of your choice.

 Method:

Preheat the oven 180 OC and prepare baking trays with greaseproof paper.

Well as I mentioned above, I literally add all ingredients to the bowl and mix!

Then roll onto a floured surface, cut out chosen shape (we have done this both with circles and hearts) – cutting out the smaller shape in the centre to create rings. Place on baking trays.

Put in the oven, cook for about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Leave to cool on a wire rack.

Then make up your icing in two colour. Spread first colour icing on the biscuit then drizzle a contrasting colour over the top, in a sort of zigzag pattern. Allow to set.

Then enjoy!!!

P.S Nag me if you don’t get another recipe soon! Thank you xx
